Santa has one of the oldest business models in history
This business model is 1500+ years old and successful but what can we learn?
To get into the spirit of Christmas, I decided to share some secrets to one of the oldest business models in history.
Santa’s Business Model
The value proposition is clear and concise “To make Christmas dreams come true and scale the spirit of Christmas”
Santa’s customers are global and includes all demographics. Would Santa be better off to narrow down the customer segments? What are the pains, gains, and jobs to be done?
Santa knows the benefits of shutdown hours and how to maximize time on the busiest day of the year.
Santa knows the secret to operating efficiently is specialization using each worker’s comparative advantage.
Santa makes decisions based on data collection, analyzing the findings, checking it twice, in order to identify production decisions.
What Santa has forgotten to do is figure out how to monetize the key activities. Santa has high costs, however we never truly know if there is a revenue model. Is it really the Christmas spirit that keeps the operations rolling?
Happy Holidays! Hope you have been enjoying my business model stories. What suggestions would you have for Santa for a stronger business model?
